Functional Medicine in Broken Arrow: What to Expect at Your First Visit

By Rebekah Presley, NP · Restorative Health and Wellness, Broken Arrow, OK

If you've been curious about functional medicine but aren't sure what it actually involves — or whether it's right for you — this is a straightforward look at what happens at a first visit with Rebekah Presley, NP at Restorative Health and Wellness in Broken Arrow.

No jargon. No sales pitch. Just an honest description of the process.

What is functional medicine, exactly?

Functional medicine is an approach to healthcare that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of symptoms — rather than managing them with medication alone.

It draws on advanced lab testing, detailed patient history, and an understanding of how body systems interact. The goal is to understand why you feel the way you do, not just what to prescribe for it.

At Restorative Health and Wellness, this means looking at hormones, thyroid function, metabolic health, nutrient status, and more — and connecting those findings to your actual symptoms and history.

What happens at the Foundation Consult

The Foundation Consult is a 60-minute new patient visit. Here's what to expect:

  • A thorough intake conversation. Rebekah will spend time understanding your full health history — not just your chief complaint. What you've tried, what's worked, what hasn't, and what your day-to-day actually looks like.
  • Lab review. If you have prior labs, bring them. She'll review them with a functional lens — looking at where your values fall within the range, not just whether they're flagged as abnormal.
  • Symptom mapping. Your symptoms are data. Fatigue, brain fog, weight changes, sleep disruption, mood shifts — these are all clues that point toward underlying patterns.
  • A clear plan before you leave. You won't walk out with a vague "let's wait and see." You'll have a specific next step — whether that's additional testing, a treatment protocol, or both.

Who comes to see us

Most of our new patients in Broken Arrow and Tulsa share a common experience: they've been told their labs are normal, but they still feel off. They're often women in their 30s–50s dealing with hormone-related symptoms, or men experiencing fatigue and low testosterone that hasn't been properly addressed.

We also see patients with thyroid concerns, metabolic issues, weight that won't respond to diet and exercise, and those who simply want a provider who will take the time to actually listen.

Cash pay, no insurance

We operate on a cash-pay model. That means no insurance games, no prior authorizations, and no 10-minute appointments driven by billing codes. You pay a flat fee for a real visit.

The Foundation Consult is $499. Telehealth is available for patients across Oklahoma.

See if it's the right fit

The best way to know if functional medicine is right for you is to have a real conversation about your health. That's exactly what the Foundation Consult is designed for.
